Thursday, 22nd February 2018

Dear reader,

Welcome to our January 2018
"Monthly Round-Up" Newsletter

Today was our first Post-Diagnostic Support Group meeting of 2018, which was conducted by Linda for its entirety and went extremely well with plenty of good questions from attendees. Minutes will be posted in the coming days.

Linda took the opportunity to inform everyone of the amazing news that Axia ASD have been announced as Finalists in the Team Category of “Award for Outstanding Health Services” in the National Autistic Society’s “Autism Professionals Awards 2018”.

There has been much in the News this month, including Information for mothers accused of “Munchausens”, and of course there are the usual Axia Film Society reviews from Calvin along with his "Best and Worst" of 2017. Plus a great guest submission suggesting we share a Tony Attwood video about Autism in Females. We subsequently shared a documentary which Dream found fascinating about Professor Attwood’s life and family.

We hope 2018 is looking positive for everyone and we’ll see you at the next PDSG in March.

“THE POST” The Post is a reference to the Washington Post, one of the world’s most famous newspapers, which you may have seen recently being attacked by the current President of the United States for spreading what he calls “fake news”. The film with its subject matter feels rather timely and Steven Spielberg either saw the writing on the wall …

“COCO” So, Pixar are at it again and this looked like a good way to start the year. Professor Tony Attwood - Uploaded by ABC News (Australia)

Following Helen sharing an extremely interesting video of Tony Atwood on Vimeo, I found a YouTube documentary on Professor Attwood. Despite the extremely misleading title, “Is Asperger's syndrome the next stage of human evolution? - Australian Story”, I found this an interesting “review” of Tony Attwood’s life, and strangely resonated with his son to some degree. I don't necessarily agree …
