Thursday 4th June – Update

Another successful day here at Axia, with three diagnosticians carrying out sterling work.

Valuing equality and diversity is one of the most fundamental beliefs of Axia: accepting and respecting all individuals and their differences. As you can see from the home page on our website, ‘Axia’ derives from Ancient Greek, meaning ‘value, merit, worth’.

Calvin made the very good point this morning that in light of demonstrations and protests taking place in support of ‘Black Lives Matter’ we here at Axia had not yet shown our support. And we do wholeheartedly support this. We would like to take this opportunity to share that.

Ways to show support:

Video from which all proceeds go toward BLM charities

Foundation working with people aged 13-30 from disadvantaged backgrounds

UK Black Lives Matter Fund

Write to your local MP to encourage them to condemn the violent response to protests in the US, as well as oppose the sale of riot shields, tear gas and rubber bullets by the UK government to the US

All charities, including the’ National Autistic Society (NAS)’, are going through a very difficult time at the moment and need as much support as possible. If you would like to become a member or get involved with the NAS you can find out how by using this link:

We are also wondering, following on from Calvin’s presentations, at this year’s NAS Professionals Conference, whether anyone is currently watching ‘The A Word’ and if so, do you have comments about this new series? Calvin would welcome those.

Finally, as a thank you to our hard working Admin Team, we have taken the decision to close the office earlier on a Friday. From now on, Axia’s offices will now close on a Friday at 4:45pm so this will mean that phone calls and email will not be answered after that time. This is just a very small token of our appreciation for the dedication and tenacity, so they can start their weekend a little bit earlier.

The office will open at 9am Monday mornings as usual.
