South Yorkshire Autism Fayre 2020

About the Fayre

Due to the recent pandemic and circumstances of health and safety, we have decided to hold our annual Fayre virtually. It will take place between 13th – 16th September. Although we are disappointed at not holding the Fayre in our traditional manner, we are however EXCITED to be holding our first ever Virtual Fayre

History

The Autism Fayre was first started in 2015 by Sparkle Sheffield. This event was held at Norfolk Park Centre in the Park and had 2 speakers and 4 information stalls. The first Fayre had more attendees than anticipated, and the following year quickly increased to 5 speakers and 19 information stalls over 2 days! This showed that there was a need out there for parents to be able to access a range of information about autism in one place. The event continued to be held yearly at Norfolk Park Centre in the Park until 2018.

Previous

In 2019, Autism Union received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to host the biggest South Yorkshire Autism Fayre yet! The 2019 event was a resounding success with over 20 speakers and 40 stands that brought in over 500 members of the public and professionals alike. The event shared knowledge and information; and provided services and products to delegates from South Yorkshire and wider afield. The Fayre was opened by Sir Robert Dyson (Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire) and covered by local media, news and radio stations along with vloggers and bloggers alike.
