The Autistic Brain – Review

Book Review of

“The Autistic Brain”
– (Helping Different Kinds of Minds Succeed)
By Dr. Temple Grandin & Richard Panek

This book is a good combination of science and wisdom about living a good and productive life ‘on the spectrum’. When you get to chapters 2 and 3 you may feel you’re getting a little out of your depth as these are about the latest brain imaging techniques and genetics. But persevere!

The second half of this two part book has something for everybody. One thing that I personally have taken from it appears in chapter 4; Temple’s gut instincts about the need for music therapy to complement speech therapy for autistic children. Temple’s instincts have proved to be pretty reliable so far!
