“GHOST IN THE SHELL: THE NEW MOVIE” Yes that really is the title, but this is not to be confused with the upcoming live action film that will star Scarlett Johanson and will be coming out next year, which I intend to review upon its release. Ghost in the Shell is a science fiction film…

“X-MEN APOCALYPSE” Yep another comic movie we’re certainly not short of them this year. Good news for comic fans like me, bad for people getting bored of Superhero movies. I love the X-men movies with the exception of X-men Origins Wolverine they really are not only great representations of the comic it’s based on but…

“THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE” Yes, they have finally done it, they have made a movie out of a very, very plotless video game. This is the 2nd of what will be 4 video game adaptations to come out this year in cinemas, the previous one being Ratchet and Clank which I briefly talked about last…

“BAD NEIGHBOURS 2” Bad Neighbours 2, or alternatively, as it’s known in America Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising. The title has changed for International audiences in Europe and Australia to avoid confusion with the Australian soap of the same title, though how you would mix those two up is beyond my understanding. This film is the…

“CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR” It’s finally here, Phase 3 of Marvel kicks off now which is set to be one of the most ambitious film projects of all time, which will culminate in 10 movies in total. It was supposed to be 11 but I am not going to count Inhumans just yet because the…

“SON OF SAUL” If you recall my article from a couple of months back where I made my picks for the Oscars I mentioned that I didn’t take up the category of Best Film In A Foreign Language for 2 reasons, 1) these films tend to be released in very few cinemas and 2) for…

“THE JUNGLE BOOK (2016)” 49 Years after the film first came out, Disney has remade The Jungle Book again. Yes, be honest, all of you forgot that the 1994 live action remake even existed and if any of you are thinking about tracking it down now to see what it was like, don’t, it’s not…

“THE HUNTSMAN: WINTERS WAR” Yes, it’s the prequel to 2012’s Snow White and The Huntsman and really, was anyone asking for this! OK the film did very well surprisingly at the Box Office, especially considering that year there were 6 Snow White movies out if you included all the low budget studios, but really that…

“EDDIE THE EAGLE” Eddie The Eagle is actually a story I didn’t know that much about, I was obviously not alive when he took part in the Olympics and all I have to go on is archive footage, that being said though, I was really excited to see this film, purely on its cast which…

“BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE” Just a warning ahead. There are going to be a ton of spoilers for Man Of Steel, so if you haven’t seen that movie yet, you have been warned!!  This does not mean I will be giving away spoilers for this film though. Batman V Superman is one of…

“FUSE: MEMOIRS OF THE HUNTER GIRL” Fuse: Memoirs Of The Hunter Girl (or Fuse: Memoirs Of The Huntress as it’s known in America) is the first release of 2016 to come from license company. All The Anime who are largely responsible for many of the films I saw at MCM Loves Anime last year, including…

“KUNG FU PANDA 3” I love the Kung Fu Panda movies so much. Dreamworks has never really made that many animated productions that stand up to their contemporaries with the exception of the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ movies and these films. The first movie was excellent, the second movie even better, in fact Kung…

“HAIL, CAESAR!” Hail Caesar is a very interesting film on several reasons for myself so I was genuinely intrigued to see the film. It’s the latest film written and directed by the legendary Coen brothers Joel and Ethan who, by the time of the UK’s release will be coming off their loss at the Oscars…

“BATMAN: BAD BLOOD” It’s another year so it’s another round of DC animated movies, however, this year is slightly different, unlike the previous 2 years, DC has 2 live action movies out this year at the same time, which will be part of their DC cinematic universe and they will be coming out around similar…

“THE FINEST HOURS” Ok this may not be the film I wanted to review this week, but when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I chose this film over last week’s other major release ‘Tripple 9’ because I believed that this one would receive much more of a push than Triple 9 had received with…

“DEADPOOL” Now I may be the nerd consultant around here, but I don’t read everything that Marvel brings out so you will forgive me if some of my knowledge of Deadpool isn’t the best in the world, but I do have a basic knowledge of the characters and I do enjoy the character, I just…

With the Oscars coming up in the next couple of days I deiced that the film society should pass comment on where the awards should go. Now a few ground rules: it must be something that actually received a nomination rather than the way Mark Kermode does his Kermode awards which aim to highlight films…

“SPOTLIGHT” Spotlight was, for as long as I can remember the big Oscar buzz film. As soon as people saw it they were saying that this was the only definite Best Picture Nomination and we would naturally assume that we wouldn’t be getting to see it until early January and the Oscar people were completely…
