Too Much Information – Autism Awareness Session

The ‘Autism Hour’ campaign begins on week commencing the 2nd October 2017 and asks retailers and businesses to choose an hour in the week during which they will agree to, turn down music or other noise and dim the lights, share information with employees and increase public understanding. The Council is working with a number of partners to take part in this important campaign and there will be a number of events and activities being held throughout the Borough.

The local branch of the NAS, in conjunction with Story House in Chester and Cheshire West and Chester Council, are running a TMI (“Too Much Information”) event to raise awareness about autism as part of the Autism Hour initiative. This will take place on Monday 2nd October at 10am at Story House. Below are more details and a link for booking a place.

We hope that you will be able to join us to launch this very important campaign. Please share this information with family, friends and professionals that you might know.

Tickets are free, but must be booked as space is limited.

The ‘Too Much Information’ session gives an overview of what it might be like to be on the autistic spectrum. It encourages people to see things from the perspective of an autistic person and to challenge the myths, misconceptions and stereotypes that make autistic people feel so isolated and make society feel so unwelcoming. Going on this TMI course helps you to become a ‘detective’, looking for the reasons behind certain behaviours. It also looks at what you can do to help, if a person is experiencing a meltdown due to receiving too much information.
