NW Autism Conference 2019 – Save The Date

North Wales 2019 Annual Autism Conference Brief

On the 11th October 2019 we will be holding our 4th Annual Autism Conference at Venue Cymru, The Promenade, Penrhyn Crescent, Llandudno, LL30 1BB.

The theme of our all-day conference will be ‘Health and Wellbeing’ and we will look forward to welcoming autistic people, their families and carers, and professional staff as delegates.

At our 2018 conference we welcomed over 200 delegates.

Our keynote speaker will be Sarah Henderickx. Sarah is an autistic adult, six times author in autism and an international speaker. Having worked in care, education, mentoring and diagnosis, Sarah shares both her professional and personal insights into the autistic perspective with brutal honesty and humour.

Returning by popular demand will be Dr Luke Beardon, Senior Lecturer, The Autism Centre, Sheffield Hallam University. Dr Beardon has worked in the field of autism for over twenty years in various capacities ranging from practitioner, researcher, author and educator. In his current post as Senior Lecturer in Autism, he runs various courses at different academic levels, supervises students at a doctorate level and continues to be involved in research.

In addition to our main speakers there will be four parallel sessions held in the morning, and repeated in the afternoon to ensure delegates are able to attend two parallel sessions throughout the day.

There will also be numerous spaces for trade stands.

So please book the date in your diaries, Friday 11th October 2019, and we will forward and publish more details shortly

Previous comments from 2018 delegates: –

“Dr Wenn was amazing, a true inspiration. Dr Luke was such a deep thinker putting his knowledge into simple terms” – Autistic individual

“All aspects were engaging and informative” – Health and Social Care Professional

“The entire day was informative and very enjoyable. I found approaches to sensitivity and how to support young people (use of language) particularly useful” – Education professional

“Hearing from Autistic individuals/presenters – ‘simple’ nuggets to take away to implement or strategies that may support my child or me in my role as a parent, wife, teacher, community worker” – Parent/professional

“Recently diagnosed this year despite reading up it is so much better to meet up with others – nearly all sessions had relevance that I could use to help me understand (despite 53 years with it) what and who I am and how I can go forward (so now I know that what I have always done to calm is stimming and that others also do it).
