Post-Diagnostic Support Group Minutes – January 2020

Meeting-minutes-pictureMinutes of the Forty First
Post-Diagnostic Support Group
15th January 2020

Today’s group was attended by 42 people and 2 Assistance dogs.

Sarah Hendricks opened the group and explained that Linda was not there as she was cruising (not really with Jane McDonald!)

She then introduced the fantastic Luke Beardon, who did a presentation on his vision of ‘Autopia’ (slides available here). There was a lot of audience participation and many thought provoking issues raised.

All members of the group appeared to enjoy Luke’s presentation; there was a lot of laughter and agreement on points made.

We then stopped for tea and cake. The Cake of the Month was a delicious Black Forrest Cake and the other choice was an equally scrumptious Blueberry cake.

Sue reminded everyone that they can email to request books from the ‘On-line Library’ which includes publications from Dr Luke Beardon and Sarah Hendricks, as well as many others. They can be requested by emailing: enquiries@axia-asd.co.uk or by emailing Sue directly at: Sue@axia-asd.co.uk

Following the break there was time for questions answered by both Luke and Sarah. So many questions that we ran out of time …

The next group will be on Wednesday 26 February 2020 and the speaker will be Matt Tinsley, who co-authored a book with Sarah Hendricks entitled ‘Asperger Syndrome: Drinking to Cope’. The presentation will be ‘Autism and Alcohol’.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

If there is a bad weather forecast within the region please check the Facebook page and Axia website to see if the group meeting is still on. If still in doubt please telephone 01244 567656 although the weather maybe reasonable in Crewe some of the staff live in North Wales and they may not be able to get there. We will do our best to update the website and Facebook page if the meeting is to be cancelled.

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to have something a bit healthier than cake?
