Axia Weekly Bulletin – 20th November

Another busy week here at Axia with our clinicians carrying out excellent work.

We would like to remind everyone who has upcoming appointments with us that we are still able to conduct face to face assessments. Red Hill House have confirmed that the building will remain open.

All staff and visitors are required to wear masks in the communal areas of the building, unless exempt. We are still observing the Social Distancing rule of 2 metres and have hand sanitiser available in all of our clinic rooms and offices, in addition to those positioned around the building. Visitors are reminded to keep themselves and others safe by using the hand sanitiser provided before entering and leaving the building. Our clinic rooms allow the space for Social Distancing of 2 metres so families and individuals can remove their masks, if wearing, once inside the room should they feel more comfortable in doing so.

Exciting news posted today: An invitation to our ‘December Virtual PDSG’. This will be the first time that you will be able to interact with the group since restrictions meant that we could not meet face to face. We know it is not the same but we really hope that many of you will like to be involved.

This week we shared details of some upcoming virtual events: UCLan Careers ‘Making Ripples’ which looks at perceptions of the employability of students and graduates with and Autism diagnosis. Also, ‘LDT London 2020 virtual sessions’ which will cover a range of topics.

We have been approached by Camilla Anello who is completing her doctoral research on the experience of neurodiverse couple who have received Couples Therapy. You can find out more about how to take part in this opportunity in our post: ‘An Interpretative Phenomenological Study of how Neurodiverse Couples make sense of their Subjective Experiences with Couples Therapy.’

We also posted “Discovery: Broad Spectrum – BBC Sounds’ where writer and performer Helen Keen discusses her experience of being diagnosed as an adult, as well as how we can value and celebrate neurodiversity.’

The ‘National Autistic Society’ publication “Your Autism’ November issue is out now. You can subscribe to this by becoming a member.

Calvin has been busy with writing reviews for the game ’13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim’ as well as ‘The Animation World Cup: Round Two.’

Calvin and Ren streamed, as usual, this week, playing ‘Castlevania’ on Tuesday. They will be streaming again later at 7:30pm and the game will be ‘Doom Eternal’. Ren will be back tonight after working nights on his placement!

I wish you all a lovely weekend.
