Another busy week here at Axia with our clinicians carrying out excellent work.
Just a reminder to those of you who are due to visit us for face to face appointments, all staff and visitors are required to wear masks in the communal areas of the building, unless exempt. We are still observing the Social Distancing rule of 2 metres and have hand sanitiser available in all of our clinic rooms and offices, in addition to those positioned around the building. Visitors are reminded to keep themselves and others safe by using the hand sanitiser provided before entering and leaving the building. Our clinic rooms allow the space for Social Distancing of 2 metres so families and individuals can remove their masks, if wearing, once inside the room should they feel more comfortable in doing so. There is now also a separate entrance and exit to the building to avoid congestion at the front door.
If you have a virtual appointment with us, please see the post: ‘Advice for those Attending Virtual Appointments’.
This week was the eagerly awaiting PGSG Q&A Session with Dr Luke Beardon. A big thank you to Luke for another fantastic group and to Kieran for organising it all. For those of you who couldn’t join, the presentation will be available to watch soon.
We shared a link this week to the website ‘Special Needs Jungle’ on advice about ‘Protecting Parents from FII’ following reports parents being accused of this increasing over the past few years
Many of you are likely aware of the film released by Sia, entitled ‘Music’, which portrays a non-verbal autistic girl. Axia had previously felt that we did not want to post anything at all about this film as we did not want to give it any kind of publicity. However, Maja, a member of the Axia Team, who works with us remotely as an Administrative Assistant, as well as being a Trainee Journalist, has written a critique of the film, which we thought was excellent and well worth sharing: ‘Why Sia’s New Movie is Potentially So Damaging.’
Don’t forget about ‘World Autism Awareness Week 29th March – 4th April 2021’. We posted an update from the ‘National Autistic Society’ about how you can get involved. I am in training for my ‘Super 7 Challenge.’
This week Calvin posted a review of the game: ‘Little Nightmares 2’ and a film review: ‘4 of the Worst Plot Twists in Movie History.’
Calvin and Ren streamed as usual on Tuesday and the game was ‘Ghost of Tsushima’. If you missed it and would like to watch, use this link:

They will be streaming again later at 7:30pm and are continuing playing ‘Persona 5.’ WARNING! There will be spoilers for ‘Persona 5’s’ ending plot points. Also, please be aware that both streams may not be suitable for younger viewers due to some adult content in the discussions.
