August PDSG Presentation – ADHD with Dr Peter Mason

Hi everyone,

This week we had our first hybrid post diagnostic support group which took place at Chester Racecourse. The presentation was given by Dr Peter Mason and focussed on ADHD – if you would like to rewatch or catch up with this, the recording can be found below. It was a great session with lots of questions and discussion, both in the room and virtually.

As well as the presentation, we had a collection of books from our library that people were able to borrow, along with alert cards and leaflets. This will continue in future sessions and so if there is a particular book from our library that you would like to borrow please let us know and we can bring this along to the next session for you.

We are able to provide appointment letters for our post diagnostic support group sessions that you can use, for example, to inform your employer of the date and time of the session. If you would like to receive one of these letters, please contact social@axia-asd.co.uk to request this and we can arrange for this to be sent to you.

Our next session will take place on 28th September 2022 with Dr Luke Beardon.

If you wish to attend the PDSG, either in person or virtually, you can let us know by emailing social@axia-asd.co.uk with your name, date of birth and date of assessment.

Closer to the time, you will receive a guide which includes an agenda for the session, directions to the racecourse and information regarding how to join the session both in person or virtually. You will receive a link for the virtual session even if you wish to attend in person, just so that you have the option for either.

Having looked forward for two and a half years to our first meeting up “ live”, I was not disappointed.
Thank you to Linda and everyone at Axia for making this PDSG happen.
The new venue at Chester racecourse is excellent, a super room (with lovely views) and being on the ground floor it is very accessible.
Dr Mason’s talk was incredibly helpful, technical and informative all presented with warmth and regular inputs of humour.
It was almost back to normal!
Lots of lovely conversations, nothing was rushed, all in control, with a break in the middle for refreshments.
The whole Axia team should be very proud. Thank you ever so much.

That was such an interesting Presentation and made me once again realize I might be the ADD type, having internalized it, and maybe if that had been recognized earlier on, it would not have labeled as being “a dreamer”, “not interested” or “seemingly tired” “not enough active during class”,”absent” and stuff like that, and my school performance might have been a better one… I have learned so much more through this presentation. So grateful I was part of the virtual presentation, and that it is possible to attend from afar. I highly appreciate all the enormous effort that was put into the first hybrid PSDG, I always very much enjoy these PSDGs – It is unique to AXIA to make this possible. Thank you once again.

I also rather like the notion that the H in ADHD could be internalized in a manner that might render it a bit less obvious to outside observation. I also like the idea that by addressing ADHD issues early on, it might provide considerable assistance with our coming to terms with ASC. I am not really quite sure that ADHD has ever actually been a part of my life, but I have recently been talking with an old friend about a grandchild; and it doesn’t take much imagination to figure that he might be better able to support the grandchild’s education if he is aware of the issues raised in this session.

It was well worth watching the presentation. Peter’s approach was very positive, and he was asked some very thought provoking questions by the ‘real-time’ audience.
I would really like to actually attend an Axia PDSG one day. I was looking forward to this session, but wasn’t able to virtually attend, due to a family bereathment.

Thank you so much for posting the video, such great information. I am a patient of Dr Mason’s and I am so grateful for his input and kindness. I feel like my life began after diagnosis and I realised that I’m not going crazy and it gave me the ability to go away and learn about myself and recognise my triggers. Thank you so much for everything you do.

Thank you for taking the time to comment
