Post-Diagnostic Support Group, June – Minutes

Meeting-minutes-pictureMinutes of the third Post-Diagnostic Support Group
3rd June 2015

The group had 25 attendees and Dr Buchan began by discussing two research projects currently being undertaken. One by Professor Francesca Happe (further details can be found in the news section of our website here) and one being undertaken by the University of Chester.

Dr Buchan discussed with the group the new room and facilities being provided by Crewe Library. Whilst there were some concerns regarding the mirrors it was decided that interest should be declared to secure the venue in the first instance.

One of the attendees (Megan) has agreed to do a book review which will be posted on our website once it has been completed.

The main topic for the group was Managing Anxiety which was delivered by Elspeth Bromiley of Ancora Therapy Services Ltd. We would like to take this opportunity to formally thank Elspeth for taking time out of her busy schedule to deliver this.

It was agreed that the topic for our next post-diagnostic support group would be employment on 8 July 2015.

Dr Buchan confirmed the date of our conference with attendees of Wednesday 11 November 2015. For further information and to register interest in attending this event please contact Carly by email on carly@axia-asd.co.uk. Dr Buchan discussed with the group the split hoped to be achieved for attendees at this conference and it was agreed that a 50/50 split of professionals to people with Autism and their families should be aimed for.

Carly would also like to take this opportunity to apologise for not being able to attend today’s group due to ill health.
