Autism Awareness Week – Lorraine ITV

Autism Awareness Week: Carrie Grant and her daughter Talia on why more needs to be done

26 Mar 2018

One in 100 people are on the autistic spectrum, but are we doing enough to support them? Today marks the start of World Autism Awareness Week and someone who understands the challenges of autism all too well is singing coach Carrie Grant.

I’m really pleased that we’re getting different images of autism out there now, it’s not just one thing, it’s really multifaceted
– Carrie Grant

Carrie has four children with complex needs. She joined Lorraine with her 16-year-old daughter Talia, who is autistic, to speak about bringing more awareness to the public. Alongside her husband David, Carrie runs a monthly support group for parents of girls on the autistic spectrum to share experiences and strategies.
