“DUMBO” Dumbo is the first of 3 Disney Live Action remakes that are coming out this year, the other two being Aladdin, which is directed by Guy Ritchie and The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau. Dumbo is directed by Tim Burton, last time he remade a Disney classic, it turned our appallingly with his…

“US” Us is the latest film from Writer/Director Jordan Peele whose previous film “Get Out”, I reviewed very favourably. But at that time, I wasn’t anticipating the levels of success that Jordan Peel was going to receive from the film, not only was it a box office hit, but it also managed to gain several…

“FISHERMAN’S FRIENDS” This film is a fictionalised documentation of the lives of a group of fishermen from Port Isaac, Cornwall who got famous after appearing on television after they were hired to perform the National Anthem. Although what actually happened I won’t spoil since this is actually covered in the film. The film looks, from…

“CAPTAIN MARVEL” Captain Marvel is the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have a female superhero as the lead character, a huge milestone for the franchise but it also marks the final stop before the end of Phase 3. The film was in talks for quite some time over how it was going…

“FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY” Just a heads up, I’m going to be reviewing this from the perspective of a wrestling fan so there might be a few points where I may say a bit of jargon that only wrestling fans are really going to know, but I will try my best to be as to…

Apologies for the late arrival. We were caught up getting ready for NAS conference including the Anime Amigos article Most of us will be away at the conference from Wednesday to Friday. We will of course let you know of any new research etc that may be useful for us all. Dr. Linda Buchan Consultant…

“HAPPY DEATH DAY 2U” Happy Death Day was a real anomaly when it came out. It was a surprise hit especially at the box office, which was surprising considering that horror films don’t tend to make a lot of money in that environment. Happy Death Day doesn’t really need a sequel. The first film wraps…

“ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL” Alita: Battle Angel is very much a project that’s been in development hell. Cameron has been talking about this film for nearly two decades and he has been wanting to make it for quite some time. Silent Studios really don’t give a crap about making adaptations like this but its also a…

“Glass” I make it no secret that I’m not a fan of M. Night Shyamalan, though with that being said, in the time since I have become a semi-professional film critic, his work has actually really improved. I reviewed The Visit which was a film that while not great, was certainly an improvement of what…

“THE UPSIDE” The Upside if a rather interesting film altogether which has been advertised as based on a true story which has not been entirely accurate. It is technically based on a true story but is also a remake of a French motion picture Les Entouchables, which I imagine this story was much closer to…

Top 10 Worst Films of 2018 2018 was a pretty decent year for films overall but when I look back over it I find most of the films I was watching this year range from passable to extra levels on both ends of the spectrum. However, that does not change the fact that most of…

Top 10 Best Films of 2018 If you’ve come from my worst films list, it’s the exact same rules. I will say once again this list is rather incomplete since like the worst films list, I did not go out of my way to see films that received tonnes of critical acclaim and a lot…

“MARY POPPINS RETURNS” So, you’d think, despite the fact that Disney is known for sequels they would have by now got around to following up on Mary Poppins, considering the fact it did have sequel novels and other stories to work from. But, no, it’s pretty much been nothing since the 60’s. Look, I’ll be…

“AQUAMAN” So, the DC Universe finally makes a reappearance, or should it be the DC extended Universe. If you’ve followed the Axia Film Society for a while you will know I have reviewed all of the DC extended Universe film, apart from The Man of Steel, and I made it pretty clear that I didn’t…

“SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE” We now live in an age where there has now been 7 Spider-Man movies gone to cinemas, that is insane. It’s even actually caused people to ask the question, has there been too much Spider-Man over kill. Spider-Verse is pretty much Sony’s attempt to keep whatever piece of the Spider-Man license…

“CREED II” Creed II is the latest film in the Rocky franchise, which is now on its eighth film. The franchise rebooted two years ago, with a new main character, Adonis Creed son of first film antagonist Apollo Creed. If you recall my review of that film I really enjoyed Creed and I thought it…
