Dear friends,Next week the National Autistic Society and the Greater Manchester Autism Consortium are hosting an autism friendly hustings in Manchester. Anyone with an interest in the region would be welcome to join us.The National Autistic Society’s Greater Manchester Autism Consortium Project supports the development of local services for people with autism and works with each of the Greater Manchester area’s local authorities. http://www.autismgm.org.uk/The hustings will take place on April 20th at Friend’s Meeting House Manchester. We ask that attendees be there at 11:30 for a prompt start. If you’re interested in attending please email campaign@nas.org.uk and we will confirm your place.
Andy Burnham (Labour), Sean Anstee (Conservative) and Shneur Odze (UKIP) have already confirmed they will be joining us at the event.
This will be a ‘autism friendly hustings’, meaning that candidates will go from table to table at the event and take part in short discussions with people on the spectrum, families and professionals who support people with autism.
Each table will have a discussion leader who will direct the conversation and allow everyone to have their voice heard. Attendees will be invited to share what it’s like to live in Greater Manchester if you are on the autism spectrum and candidates will be asked what they can do to make Greater Manchester an autism friendly place to live.
We ask that you arrive at 11:30 so that we have time to prepare what we want to say to our candidates before they arrive at 12:00. Tea and coffee will be available.
Space is strictly limited at the event so it is essential you email campaign@nas.org.uk in order to secure your place at the event.
Sincerely,
Olly Parker
