Since the word autism derived from the Greek word meaning self, one would have to consult the individual about their talents/capabilities or actually observe/obtain evidence of the individual at work oneself. It is exactly partly due to generalisation of individuals that there is increased misunderstanding, apathy, bullying and abuse in the workplace or exclusion from the workplace/lack of effort to include people who have autism (who are their individual selves). One can gain a lot of perspective from being/trying to understand what it’s like to be somewhat ‘outside’ of general society and their social conditioning affects. This perspective lends credence to the opinion that all humans need to be compassionate to all other humans. There is a long way to go but I’m sure that there must be some compassionate people supporting people who have autism-thank you to those people you know who you are!
