This student with dyspraxia was told he was ‘just bad at maths’ – but he proved teachers wrong by getting a master’s in it
‘I managed to get through a system that holds disabled people back’
A student with dyspraxia has gone viral online after sharing that he graduated with a first class master’s degree in theoretical physics with maths. As a child, he was dismissed by primary school teachers as being “just bad at maths”.
Joe Rowland Adams from Lancaster told i that graduating in maths is a monumental moment for him because “even after my diagnosis, many teachers saw it as not a ‘real disability’, and just a thing made up by my parents not satisfied with my academic performance”.
