Axia Weekly Bulletin – 26/3/21

Another busy week here at Axia with our clinicians carrying out excellent work.

Just a reminder to those of you who are due to visit us for face to face appointments, all staff and visitors are required to wear masks in the communal areas of the building, unless exempt. We are still observing the Social Distancing rule of 2 metres and have hand sanitiser available in all of our clinic rooms and offices, in addition to those positioned around the building. Visitors are reminded to keep themselves and others safe by using the hand sanitiser provided before entering and leaving the building. Our clinic rooms allow the space for Social Distancing of 2 metres so families and individuals can remove their masks, if wearing, once inside the room should they feel more comfortable in doing so. There is now also a separate entrance and exit to the building to avoid congestion at the front door.

If you have a virtual appointment with us, please see the post: ‘Advice for those Attending Virtual Appointments’.

Next week is ‘World Autism Awareness Week, 29th March – 4th April 2021’. You can find out about how to get involved by visiting the ‘National Autistic Society’ website. It would be lovely to hear from anyone who is taking up a ‘Super 7 Challenge’. I will share how I get on with my challenge in next week’s bulletin.

This week we shared a report from ‘The Lancet Psychiatry: Psychologists report an error in the NICE Guidelines for Autism’ which highlights how the AQ-10 screening tool may have been widely misused, meaning many people will not have been referred for an Autism assessment.

Some of you may be interested in taking part in ‘PhD Research Project’ which is being carried out by Magdalena Smusz from the University of Salford. The research is exploring the experience of romantic relationships and sexuality education in young people. Please read the post for further details of how you can get involved.

Last night was the ‘Bafta Games Awards 2021’ and Calvin, our resident Self-Proclaimed Nerd Consultant’ was “very pleased” with the results: ‘Hades takes Best Game – BBC.’

Calvin was also back with a film review for ‘The Film Society’ this week, sharing his thoughts on ‘Batman: Dying is Easy.’

The Anime Amigos were filming today so a new vlog will be posted in the very near future.

Calvin and Ren streamed as usual on Tuesday and the game was ‘Ghost of Tsushima’. If you missed it and would like to watch, use this link:

They will be streaming again later at 7:30pm and are continuing playing ‘Persona 5.’ If you missed last week’s stream and would like to watch, use this link: Persona 5 Part 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3m0Qdwa8Io

WARNING! There will be spoilers for ‘Persona 5’s’ ending plot points. Also, please be aware that both streams may not be suitable for younger viewers due to some adult content in the discussions.
